Project: South Kensington Mansion Block Apartment Renovation
Location: South Kensington,
London Scope: Full interior renovation of a period apartment within a mansion block
Design Brief & Response:
This renovation project involved the complete transformation of a compartmentalised apartment that originally lacked flow, cohesion, and identity. The previous layout was a disjointed maze of small rooms, with bedrooms and living areas scattered throughout the space.
The new design introduces a clear spatial hierarchy and creates a strong sense of openness. Strategic reconfiguration of internal walls and careful zoning have allowed for generous living areas that feel significantly larger than their actual footprint. The layout now reveals curated sightlines and visual connections throughout, offering unexpected and engaging vistas from room to room.
The design language draws inspiration from the refined aesthetic of a masculine five-star hotel—tailored, elegant, and understated. Rich materials, bold tones, and sleek detailing combine to create a sophisticated, cohesive interior that reflects contemporary urban luxury while respecting the character of the original building.
